Tomorrow kicks off the 2014 Futures of Visual Anthropology Conference at Temple University. We have a full two days of panels, installations, roundtables, and workshops that we hope will advance a collective discussion on collaboration, innovation, and public engagement within visual scholarship.
On Friday, we are proud to host a keynote presentation from Krista Harper, Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and recent co-author of Participatory Visual and Digital Methods. Her talk titled, “Studying and Transforming Urban Environments through Participatory Visual and Digital Research,” will explore how visual and digital research methods, such as PhotoVoice and participatory mapping, provide new ways for anthropologists to forge knowledge about urban environments. 2:00pm Weigley Room (Gladfelter 914)
Join us after the keynote presentation on Friday for our culminating event–a tour of PhillyCAM, Philadelphia’s public access television network and community media center. Come learn more about PhillyCAM’s work with local communities and the fight for public access programming! Food and drinks to follow. 4:30pm at 699 Ranstead.
